What is a heat pump, and which kind do you need?
A heat pump is one system that both heats and cools, which is why it suits Atlanta. It moves heat instead of burning fuel, so it cools the house through the summer and warms it through the winter without a separate furnace. It comes in two forms. A ducted heat pump uses the ductwork you already have and conditions the whole house. Ducted heat pump, or ductless?
Both are heat pumps. The difference is how the air gets to the room, and that usually decides itself once we look at what duct the house has.

Yes. A heat pump is one system that does both, cooling an Atlanta home through the summer and heating it through the winter, so it can replace an air conditioner and a furnace together. It moves heat rather than burning fuel, which in Atlanta's mild winters usually costs less to run than gas heat.
Do I need a ducted heat pump or a ductless mini-split?
