What is a germicidal UV light, physically?
It is an ultraviolet lamp mounted inside the air handler or the duct, positioned so the coil surface and the air moving past it sit in the light. The lamp is wired to run with the system. That is the whole of the hardware, one lamp and a ballast in the airstream.

A damp smell for the first minute of every cycle
