Is your HVAC system fighting your ductwork?
You can buy the best heating and air conditioning system on the market and still have a back bedroom nobody wants to sleep in. Ducts are what actually deliver the comfort, and in Atlanta's older in-town homes they were often undersized to begin with, then patched over decades of remodels. Runs get crushed in crawl spaces, joints come apart in hot attics, and conditioned air leaks out before it reaches the room. Indoor Experts Heating & Air Conditioning measures what each room needs, then designs, fabricates, and installs ductwork to deliver it.

Signs your ductwork is the problem
Duct trouble gets blamed on the air conditioner for years before anyone checks the ducts. These are the tells that the equipment is doing its job and the delivery is where it breaks down.
One room never matches the rest of the house
Not enough air is reaching it, usually a run that is too small, too long, or crushed somewhere out of sight.
Upstairs bakes while downstairs stays comfortable
Hot attic ducts lose their cooling before it arrives, and the upstairs return often cannot pull enough air back.
Vents whistle, roar, or rattle when the system starts
Air being forced through undersized ductwork makes noise. A properly sized system moves air quietly.
Registers at the far end barely blow anything
Pressure drops off down a long or leaky run, so the rooms at the end of the line get whatever is left.
Dust keeps coming back after you clean
Leaks on the return side pull attic and crawl-space air straight into your system, dirt and all.
Bills keep climbing, but the system is not old
Air escaping into an attic is air you paid to cool, and the system runs longer trying to catch up.
Not sure it is the ducts? We will tell you if it is not. If the equipment is genuinely finished, that is our AC installation and replacement page. If the ducts are sound but rooms still run hot and cold, a zoning system may be the answer instead. And if what you need is a straight airflow check, AC maintenance covers that. We would rather send you to the right fix than sell you the biggest one.
Why proper ductwork design matters
Ductwork is the part of your system nobody sees, and it decides whether the equipment on either end of it can do its job. Leaky or undersized runs can lose 20% to 30% of the conditioned air a system produces before it ever reaches a register, so even a correctly sized, high-efficiency unit ends up heating and cooling air that never makes it to the room. That loss shows up as a house that never feels even and a bill that never quite matches what the equipment is rated for.
Design comes first here, not a parts list. We run a load calculation room by room, size the trunk and branch runs to carry what each one needs, and fabricate the transitions to fit your house instead of forcing a stock piece into the wrong space. Sealed and tested before we call it finished, so the air a system moves is the air that actually reaches you.
Sheet metal or flexible duct?
Both have a place, and anyone who tells you flex duct is always wrong is selling something. Rigid sheet metal is fabricated to measurement and holds its shape for decades. Flex is quicker to run and bends around obstacles. Most Atlanta homes end up with a sensible mix, and here is how we decide which goes where.
| Fabricated sheet metal | Flexible duct | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it fits | Main trunk lines and anywhere shape matters | Short branch runs and awkward angles |
| How it moves air | Smooth walls, very little resistance | Ribbed inside, so it slows air over distance |
| How it holds up | Keeps its shape for decades if sealed properly | Can sag, kink or get crushed if poorly supported |
| What it costs | More labor, because we build it to measurement | Less to install on short runs |
What makes our duct work last
We fabricate the fittings to your house
Off-the-shelf pieces get forced into spaces they were never cut for, and every awkward bend costs you airflow. We measure the space and build the transitions and trunk lines to match it, which is why our ductwork moves air the way the design says it should.
We work out what each room needs first
Before anything is cut, we run a load calculation on the house and work out the airflow every room requires. That is what stops the far bedroom being an afterthought. Guessing at duct sizing is how the original problem got built in the first place.
Every joint gets sealed, then tested
Ductwork that leaks is money going into an attic. We seal the joints properly rather than relying on tape that lets go in summer heat, then check the airflow at the registers with you there before we call the job finished.
From measurement to final airflow
Four stages, and you know the price before anything is cut.
We come and look
A technician gets into the attic or crawl space, finds what is actually there, and measures the runs. Most of this work is decided by what we find in those spaces.
We design it on paper
We run the load calculation, work out what each room needs, and lay out the duct sizes and routes. You see the plan and the written price before approving anything.
We fabricate and install
The trunk lines and fittings get built to your measurements, then installed and sealed. We work around the house rather than through more of it than the job needs.
We test the airflow with you
We run the system, check what is coming out of each register, and walk the rooms that were the problem so you can feel the difference before we leave.

Get the full picture before the quote
You get the findings before the price
Nobody should agree to ductwork off a phone call. This is a job where the price depends entirely on what is up in the attic, so the assessment comes first, and it costs you nothing for new ductwork. Call the shop, describe which rooms are the problem, and we will get someone out to look.
What the assessment covers
We get into the crawl space or attic, find what is failing and why, and tell you whether it needs a few runs replaced or the whole system re-ducted. You get that answer straight, even when it is the cheaper one.
The quickest way to start
Call (404) 913-5802 or book online in about a minute. Tell us your neighborhood, which rooms never get comfortable, and roughly how old the house is, so the technician arrives knowing where to climb.
Where we design and replace ductwork across Atlanta and Decatur
The in-town neighborhoods are where most of this work lives. Houses that have been added onto two or three times end up with ducts nobody ever resized, runs squeezed through joists, and returns that were never big enough for the square footage they now serve. We cover the city and the close-in metro, plus Decatur, a short hop beyond East Atlanta.
Not sure your street is in range? Call, and we will confirm before we book anything.

ductwork design and installationWe’ve had unfortunate luck as our downstairs AC unit has had issues on multiple occasions where it stopped working and it’s only 4 years old. However, [the owner] and his staff have always promptly evaluated every issue and fixed so quickly. They are very professional and thorough while still getting the job done quickly. This company is fair with their pricing and trustworthy…

I met with [the owner] who quickly diagnosed the issue and proposed the solution. The repair cost was very reasonable. My A/C is working great now, and I would use this company again in a heart beat…

ductwork design and installationGreat customer service. Our unit is fairly new, so I was surprised when it died last night. I was able to call and get an appointment this evening, which was wonderful. [the owner] took one quick look at the unit, knew exactly how to fix it, and did so right away. The pricing was also very reasonable, and he didn't try to up sell anything (I can't stand pushy sales people)…
